As I ended my last class of the day on Friday, I looked at my students and said, "Congratulations - you made it through your first week of 7th Grade!"
Then, I paused and thought for a second before adding, "and so did I!"
This is the beginning of a very awesome and very exciting journey. After 13 years of grade school, five years of college, a full year student teaching, and a summer full of interviews, I am very proud to say I have finished my (second) first week of 7th grade! This time though, I'm the teacher. I am so lucky to have gotten any job because of the economic climate in the state and the severe lack of teaching vacancies, but I am fortunate enough to have gotten a position in a wonderful school district working with an age group I feel very strongly about. I am in a class and content area that interests me and that I am so excited to explore with my students. I can't wait to see what this year has in store.
